Carl Wilson was born in Hawthorne, California on December 21, 1946, and died on February 6, 1998. He was a guitarist, songwriter, singer, and record producer who co-founded the Beach Boys, serving as their lead guitarist and the youngest of his two bandmates Brian and Dennis. From 1965 until his death, he was the band's musical director on stage, and functioned as the group's de facto leader during the early to mid-1970s.
