Biography

Celeste Holm was born in New York City in 1917 and worked as a stage, film, and television actor, as well as a musician and singer. She won an Academy Award for her performance in Elia Kazan's Gentleman's Agreement in 1947 and received Academy Award nominations for Come to the Stable and All About Eve. She appeared in The Snake Pit, A Letter to Three Wives, The Tender Trap, and High Society, and originated the role of Ado Annie in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Oklahoma! She died in 2012.
