Biography

Christopher A. Sims was born in Washington, D.C. in 1942 and was an econometrician and macroeconomist who held the position of John J.F. Sherrerd '52 University Professor of Economics at Princeton University. In 2011, he shared the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with Thomas Sargent for their empirical research on cause and effect in the macroeconomy. He died on March 14, 2026.
