Biography
Darlene Ruth Hard was an American professional tennis player born on January 6, 1936, in Los Angeles, California. She won singles titles at the French Championships in 1960 and the U.S. Championships in 1960 and 1961. Hard won 13 women's doubles titles across eight different partners and 5 mixed doubles titles across three partners in Grand Slam tournaments, with her final doubles title coming at the 1969 U.S. Open at age 33, six years after she had retired from serious competition to become a tennis instructor. She died on December 2, 2021.
