Diane Varsi was born on March 23, 1938, in San Mateo, California, and died on November 19, 1992. She worked as a film and television actor and ballet dancer. She appeared in Peyton Place, her film debut, which earned her an Academy Award nomination, and in the cult film Wild in the Streets. She left Hollywood to pursue personal and artistic aims, studying poetry with Ben Belitt at Bennington College in Vermont.
