Dickinson W. Richards was born on October 30, 1895, in Orange, New Jersey, and worked as an internist, physiologist, and physician. He received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1956, shared with André Cournand and Werner Forssmann, for work on cardiac catheterization and the characterisation of cardiac diseases. He died on February 23, 1973.
