Douglas Trumbull was a film director and producer born in Los Angeles in 1942. He worked as a visual effects supervisor and created scenes for 2001: A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Blade Runner, and The Tree of Life. He directed Silent Running and Brainstorm. Trumbull died in 2022.
