Eddie Adams was born on June 12, 1933, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and died on September 19, 2004. He worked as a war photographer, journalist, and photojournalist, covering 13 wars and photographing portraits of celebrities and politicians. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography in 1969 for his photograph of the execution of Nguyễn Văn Lém, a Viet Cong prisoner of war. Adams was a longtime resident of Bogota, New Jersey.
