Biography

Edward Franklin Albee III was born in Washington, D.C., in 1928 and worked as a playwright, theatre director, screenwriter, and writer. His plays included The Zoo Story, The Sandbox, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, A Delicate Balance, and Three Tall Women. Three of his plays won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and two of his other works won the Tony Award for Best Play. He died in 2016.
