Biography
Edward Herrmann was born in Washington, D.C., in 1943 and worked as a television actor, film actor, voice actor, stage actor, and writer. He portrayed Franklin D. Roosevelt in the miniseries Eleanor and Franklin (1976) and the 1982 film musical Annie, and played Richard Gilmore in the comedy-drama series Gilmore Girls (2000–2007). He provided narration for historical programs on The History Channel and in PBS productions including Nova, and served as a spokesman for Dodge automobiles in the 1990s. He died on December 31, 2014.
