Biography
Emily Warren Roebling was born in Cold Spring, New York, in 1843 and worked as a civil engineer and foreman. After her husband Washington Roebling contracted caisson disease and became bedridden, she contributed to the Brooklyn Bridge's completion over more than a decade by serving as a liaison between him and construction personnel on site. She died in 1903.
