Biography
Ezzard Charles was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia in 1921 and worked as a professional boxer between 1940 and 1959. Competing across three weight classes, he defeated numerous Hall of Fame fighters and held the world heavyweight championship from 1949 to 1951, during which he made eight successful title defenses in under two years. He died in 1975.
