Biography
Frances Bavier was born in New York City in 1902 and worked as a stage, film, and television actor. She appeared in film and television from the 1950s through the 1970s, and played Aunt Bee on The Andy Griffith Show and Mayberry R.F.D. between 1960 and 1970, a role for which she won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Comedy Actress in 1967. She also appeared as Amy Morgan on It's a Great Life from 1954 to 1956. She died in 1989.
