Gardnar Mulloy was born in Washington, D.C. in 1913 and worked as a naval officer and tennis player. He won five Grand Slam doubles tournaments and was a member of the Davis Cup winning team three times, often playing doubles with Billy Talbert. He died in 2016 at age 102.
