Biography

George Bancroft was born in Philadelphia in 1882. He worked as a film actor and stage actor, with his film career running from 1925 to 1942. He appeared in four films directed by Josef von Sternberg, including Thunderbolt (1929), for which he received a Best Actor Award nomination. He also appeared in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) and Stagecoach (1939). He died in 1956.
