George Shultz was born in New York City in 1920 and died in 2021. An economist, businessman, diplomat, and statesman, he served in various Cabinet-level positions under presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. As the 60th United States Secretary of State, he shaped foreign policy during the Reagan administration. He was one of only two persons to have held four different Cabinet-level posts.
