Harvey Kurtzman was born in Brooklyn in 1924 and worked as a cartoonist, editor, and writer. He edited and wrote the comic book Mad from 1952 to 1956, and created the Little Annie Fanny strips for Playboy from 1962 to 1988. His work featured satire and parody of popular culture and social critique, executed with close attention to detail. He died in 1993.
