Jack DeJohnette was a jazz drummer, pianist, and composer born in Chicago in 1942. He worked as sideman and leader with musicians including Charles Lloyd, Freddie Hubbard, Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, John Abercrombie, Ralph Towner, Alice Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock, and John Scofield. He recorded more than 35 albums as a band leader, won two Grammy Awards and received six additional nominations, and was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2007.
