James Irwin was born on March 17, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He served as a military officer and pilot in the United States Air Force, and worked as an aeronautical engineer and test pilot. He served as Lunar Module pilot for Apollo 15 and was the eighth person to walk on the Moon. He died on August 8, 1991.
