Jason Nelson Robards Jr. was born in Chicago on July 26, 1922, and died on December 26, 2000. He worked as a stage, film, television, and voice actor, and as a theatre manager. He performed roles in the works of playwright Eugene O'Neill on stage and screen. He won two Academy Awards and a Tony Award, and received a Primetime Emmy Award. He was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards, two BAFTA Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Laurel Award, and a Grammy Award. The American Theatre Hall of Fame inducted him in 1979, he received the National Medal of Arts in 1997, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 1999.
