Jerry Falwell was born in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1933 and died in 2007. An American Baptist pastor and televangelist, he founded Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg and established Lynchburg Christian Academy in 1967, which was later renamed Liberty Christian Academy. He founded Liberty University in 1971 and co-founded the Moral Majority in 1979.
