Biography

Jerry Fodor was born in New York City in 1935 and died in 2017. An American philosopher, he wrote on philosophy of mind and cognitive science, developing work on the modularity of mind and the language of thought hypotheses. At his death he held the position of State of New Jersey Professor of Philosophy, Emeritus, at Rutgers University, and had previously taught at the City University of New York Graduate Center and MIT.
