Biography
Jessye Norman was an opera singer and recitalist born in Augusta, Georgia in 1945. Though capable of performing dramatic soprano roles, she worked across multiple voice types and appeared on operatic, concert and recital stages. Her repertoire included Beethoven's Leonore, Wagner's Sieglinde and Kundry, Berlioz's Cassandre and Didon, and Bartók's Judith. She died in 2019.
