Biography
Joan Ann Hackett was born in East Harlem, New York, in 1934 and worked as an actor in film, television, and theater. She appeared in films including The Group, Will Penny, Support Your Local Sheriff!, The Last of Sheila, and The Terminal Man, and received a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Only When I Laugh. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1982, and over her career received nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award, a BAFTA Award, and a Golden Laurel Award, as well as wins for an Obie Award, a Drama Desk Award, and a Theatre World Award. She died on October 8, 1983.
