John Forsyth was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1780 and died in 1841. He served in the House of Representatives and Senate representing Georgia, and was the 33rd Governor of Georgia. Forsyth held the position of Secretary of State from 1834 to 1841 under Presidents Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren, and earlier served as US Minister to Spain during James Monroe's presidency.
