Biography
John W. Campbell was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1910 and died in 1971. He worked as a science fiction writer and editor, serving as editor of Astounding Science Fiction from late 1937 until his death. He wrote space opera under his own name and published stories under the pseudonym Don A. Stuart, as well as under the pen names Karl Van Kampen and Arthur McCann. His 1938 novella Who Goes There? was adapted into three films: The Thing from Another World in 1951, The Thing in 1982, and The Thing in 2011.
