Joseph Cotten was born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1905 and worked as an actor across film, stage, radio and television, as well as a screenwriter. He appeared in the original Broadway productions of The Philadelphia Story in 1939 and Sabrina Fair in 1953. He collaborated with Orson Welles on Citizen Kane, The Magnificent Ambersons, and Journey into Fear between 1941 and 1943, starring in the latter and receiving credit for its screenplay. He died in 1994.
