American writer (1928–2019)
Biography
Judith Krantz was born in New York City in 1928 and worked as a magazine writer, fashion editor, novelist, and screenwriter. Her debut novel Scruples, published in 1978, became a New York Times best-seller and was translated into 50 languages; the book depicted the high fashion world of Beverly Hills and helped establish what became known as the "sex-and-shopping" novel. She continued writing fiction, producing Princess Daisy, Mistral's Daughter, Till We Meet Again, Dazzle, and Spring Collection across subsequent decades, and released an autobiography titled Sex and Shopping: The Confessions of a Nice Jewish Girl in 2000. She died in 2019.
