American actor (1919–1973)
Biography
Lex Barker was born in Rye, New York in 1919 and worked as a film, television, and stage actor as well as a musician and singer. Between 1949 and 1953, he played Tarzan for RKO Pictures, and later portrayed characters from Karl May's novels, including Old Shatterhand in films produced by the West German studio Rialto Film. He received Bambi Award and Bravo Otto nominations and was among the most popular actors in German-speaking cinema during his peak years. He died in 1973.
