Biography

Maggie McNamara was born in New York City in 1928 and worked as a stage actor, film actor, television actor, and model. She began her career as a teenage fashion model before gaining public attention in 1951 as Patty O'Neill in the national tour of The Moon Is Blue, which ran alongside the original Broadway production. In 1952 she took over the same role in the Broadway production, succeeding Barbara Bel Geddes. Otto Preminger directed both stage productions and also directed her in the 1953 film adaptation, for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She died in 1978.
