Marie Colvin was born in Oyster Bay, New York, in 1956 and worked as a journalist covering foreign affairs. From 1985 until her death, she served as a foreign correspondent for The Sunday Times. On February 22, 2012, she was killed in a targeted attack by Syrian government forces while covering the siege of Homs alongside French photojournalist Rémi Ochlik.
