Marjorie Burnet Rambeau was born in San Francisco on July 15, 1889, and worked as a stage and film actor. She began performing on stage at age 12 and appeared in silent films before her first sound film, Her Man, released in 1930. She received two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress for Primrose Path (1940) and Torch Song (1953), and won the 1955 National Board of Review Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in A Man Called Peter and The View from Pompey's Head. She died on June 6, 1970.
