Mickey Mantle was born on October 20, 1931, in Spavinaw, Oklahoma, and died on August 13, 1995. He played baseball for the New York Yankees throughout his Major League Baseball career from 1951 to 1968, primarily as a center fielder. Mantle won the American League Most Valuable Player award three times and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.
