Biography

Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann was born in Los Angeles in 1933 and worked as a diplomat, politician, and priest with the Maryknoll Missionary Society. He served as President of the United Nations General Assembly from September 2008 to September 2009, presiding over the 63rd Session. In March 2011 he was nominated as Libyan Representative to the UN. He died on 8 June 2017, having suffered a stroke several months before his death.
