American film director (1899–1981)
Biography
Norman Taurog was born in Chicago in 1899 and worked as a film director and screenwriter. Between 1920 and 1968, he directed 180 films. At age 32, he won the Academy Award for Best Director for Skippy (1931), a record for the youngest recipient that stood for eight and a half decades, and he received a later nomination for Boys Town (1938). He directed six films with Martin and Lewis and nine with Elvis Presley, more than any other director working with either pair.
