Oliver Hardy was born in Harlem, Georgia in 1892 and died in 1957. He was a comic actor, screenwriter, director, stunt performer, singer, and comedian who appeared in his first film, Outwitting Dad, in 1914. Hardy formed a comedy partnership with Stan Laurel that lasted from 1926 to 1957, during which they appeared together in 107 short films, feature films, and cameo roles. In his silent films before joining producer Hal Roach, he was billed on screen as Babe Hardy.
