Omar Mir Seddique Mateen was born in New York City in 1986 and worked as a security guard. On June 12, 2016, he carried out a mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, killing 49 people and wounding 58 others. He died in a shootout with local police at the scene.
