Parry O'Brien was a shot putter born in Santa Monica, California, on January 28, 1932. He competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics, winning two gold medals and one silver medal in 1960, and placing fourth in his final Olympic appearance in 1964. O'Brien was inducted into the IAAF and U.S. Olympic halls of fame. He died on April 21, 2007.
