Biography

Paul Samuelson was born in Gary, Indiana in 1915 and worked as an economist and writer. He was the first American to win the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, which he received in 1970. The Swedish Royal Academies cited him for having "done more than any other contemporary economist to raise the level of scientific analysis in economic theory." He died in 2009.
