Bashar Barakah Jackson, who performed as Pop Smoke, was an American rapper and songwriter born in Canarsie, Brooklyn, in 1999. He gained prominence following the release of "Welcome to the Party" and "Dior" in 2019. He worked frequently with UK drill artists and producers who used more minimal and aggressive instrumentation than American drill artists from Chicago, bringing this sound back as Brooklyn drill. He died in February 2020.
