Ray Sharkey was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1952 and worked as a film, television, and stage actor. He won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for his performance in The Idolmaker (1980), and received a nomination for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film for The Ordeal of Bill Carney (1982). He played Sonny Steelgrave in the first season of the television crime drama Wiseguy (1987). He died on June 11, 1993.
