Rick Adelman was born in Lynwood, California in 1946 and worked as a professional basketball player and coach. He coached 23 seasons in the NBA, serving as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, and Minnesota Timberwolves. He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021 and finished his career with 1,042 wins, the tenth-highest total in league history at the time of his death in 2026. He led his teams to two NBA Finals appearances with Portland but did not win a championship.
