Robert Ludlum was born in New York City on May 25, 1927, and died on March 12, 2001. He wrote 27 thriller novels and created the character Jason Bourne in The Bourne Trilogy series. His books were published in 33 languages across 40 countries, with estimated copies in print between 300 million and 500 million. He also wrote under the pseudonyms Jonathan Ryder and Michael Shepherd.
