Roy Anthony Tucker was an astronomer born in Jackson, Mississippi in 1951 and died on March 5, 2021. He co-discovered the near-Earth asteroid 99942 Apophis with David J. Tholen and Fabrizio Bernardi of the University of Hawaiʻi. Between 1996 and 2010, the Minor Planet Center credited him with discovering 702 numbered minor planets, and he also discovered two comets: 328P/LONEOS–Tucker and C/2004 Q1.
