Biography
Rudy Van Gelder was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1924 and died in 2016. A recording engineer who worked in jazz, he recorded thousands of sessions over more than fifty years with musicians including John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Art Blakey, and many others. He recorded almost every session on Blue Note Records between 1953 and 1967.
