Sid Caesar was born in Yonkers, New York in 1922 and worked as a comic actor, saxophonist, and writer across stage, film, and television. He hosted Your Show of Shows from 1950 to 1954, a 90-minute weekly program viewed by 60 million people, followed by Caesar's Hour from 1954 to 1957; these series received seven Emmy nominations between 1953 and 1954 and won two. His film roles included Coach Calhoun in Grease (1978) and Grease 2 (1982), along with appearances in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Silent Movie, History of the World, Part I, Cannonball Run II, and Vegas Vacation. He died in 2014.
