Biography

Sidney Sheldon was born in Chicago in 1917 and worked across multiple forms—as a playwright, screenwriter, film and television producer, and novelist. In the 1940s and 50s he wrote for Broadway and motion pictures, including The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer, which won him an Oscar in 1948. He created three television series over more than two decades: The Patty Duke Show, I Dream of Jeannie, and Hart to Hart. From age 50 onward he wrote novels including The Other Side of Midnight, Master of the Game, and Rage of Angels. He died in 2007.
