Steve Lawrence was born in Brooklyn on July 8, 1935, and died on March 7, 2024. He worked as a singer, comedian, actor, and musician. Lawrence formed the pop duo Steve and Eydie with his wife Eydie Gormé, beginning as regulars on Tonight Starring Steve Allen in 1954 and continuing to perform together until Gormé's retirement in 2009. He played Maury Sline, the manager and friend of main characters, in the 1980 film The Blues Brothers and its sequel.
