Tony Bennett, born in Queens, New York in 1926, was a jazz and traditional pop singer who also worked as a recording artist, musician, painter, and actor. He received 20 Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award, and two Primetime Emmy Awards, and was named a National Endowments for the Arts Jazz Master and Kennedy Center Honoree. He founded the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, Queens, and Exploring the Arts, a non-profit arts education program. He sold more than 50 million records worldwide and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame before his death in 2023.
