Biography
Ty Cobb was a baseball center fielder born in Narrows, Georgia, in 1886. He played 24 seasons in Major League Baseball, spending 22 years with the Detroit Tigers, where he also served as player-manager for six seasons before finishing his career with the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1936, Cobb received 222 of 226 votes on the inaugural National Baseball Hall of Fame ballot, a percentage unmatched by any other player until Tom Seaver in 1992.
